Alberta Government Offers Additional Education Funds
Interesting eligibility requirements on this one: Curious age requirement on the $100 grant. Do I see everyone packing their vehicles for Alberta now?
What is the Alberta Centennial Education Savings Plan?
- The Alberta Centennial Education Savings Plan was introduced in 2005 by the Alberta government to encourage families to begin planning and saving for their children's post-secondary education.
- The Government of Alberta will contribute $500 to a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) for babies born to or adopted by Alberta residents on or after January 1, 2005.
- The $100 Alberta Centennial Education Savings Grant is also available to students who are enrolled in school in Alberta, and have turned the age of 8, 11, or 14 in 2005 or later. Children who are home-schooled at the primary level may also be eligible to receive this Grant. A deposit into the child's RESP of at least $100 during the previous year is required to receive each of these $100 payments.
See information about applying for these two grants on the government website at
Any ideas on why the strange age requirements on the $100 Grant?
