What does it cost to accept transactions? 

• Swiped transactions are 2.75% on the total and manually input transactions are 3.5% + 15 cents per transaction. These fees are charged on the fully amount including tax and tips With standard pricing, there are no activation, early termination, interchange or chargeback fees. 
• Cash payments have no transaction fee.

Square is PCI compliant and adheres to Level 1 Data Security Standards. Learn more about Square security. Manually-entered transactions are statistically higher risk, hence the higher fee. They cannot refund the difference for manually-entered transactions.
Note: When you price the items you sell, you are free to incorporate any costs incurred in your business operations. However, you cannot itemize Square's transaction fee in order to pass this cost on to your customers. Applying a surcharge is against the Commercial Entity Agreement and agreement with the payment processing network that you agree to as a Square account holder.
